Deskripsi Program

Pendidikan Politeknik di Indonesia merupakan pendidikan vokasi, sehingga pengembangan dosennya harus mempertimbangkan karakteristik dari pendidikan vokasi yang lebih banyak melibatkan keterampilan. Dalam rangka pengembangan tenaga dosen politeknik, Fakultas Ilmu Komputer -Universitas Indonesia merasa terpanggil untuk mengembangkan program magister bidang Teknologi Informasi yang berorientasi pada aspek terapan. Program ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengembangan profesionalisme dosen/calon dosen Politeknik negeri/swasta. Program Joint Degree ini merupakan hasil kerjasama antara Fakultas Ilmu Komputer Universitas Indonesia (Fasilkom UI) dengan Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering, University of Canberra (ISE-UC). Peserta program ini sepenuhnya akan dibiayai oleh Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI), Departemen Pendidikan Nasional.

Program ini bukanlah merupakan program terminal sehingga lulusan program ini berhak untuk melanjutkan ke jenjang Doktoral, baik program Doktoral.

Persyaratan

Peserta program ini harus memenuhi persyaratan berikut ini:

•Terdaftar sebagai dosen/calon dosen Politeknik negeri ataupun swasta.
•Memiliki ijazah S1 atau D-IV pada bidang Ilmu Komputer/Informatika, Sistem Informasi, Teknologi Informasi, maupun bidang-bidang lain yang terkait seperti Teknik Elektronika, Matematika.
•Memiliki IPK minimum 2,75.
•Memiliki nilai TOEFL (boleh institusional) minimum 500 atau nilai IELTS minimum 5.0.
•Umur maksimum 40 tahun.
•Lulus ujian seleksi yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Indonesia.
Sebelum berangkat ke University of Canberra pada tahun kedua, peserta sudah harus memperoleh nilai IELTS minimum 6.0.

Masa Studi

Program ini dirancang dalam waktu 2 (dua) tahun. Pada tahun pertama perkuliahan dilakukan di Magister Teknologi Informasi Universitas Indonesia (MTI-UI) dan pada tahun kedua perkuliahan dilakukan di Master of Information Technology University of Canberra (MIT-UC) termasuk untuk penyelesaian Tesis/Karya Akhir.

Gelar

Setelah menyelesaikan perkuliahan di kedua Universitas, peserta akan mendapatkan gelar Magister Teknologi Informasi dari Universitas Indonesia dan Master of Information Technology dari University of Canberra.

Kurikulum

Program Magister Teknologi Informasi adalah program yang dirancang untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan di bidang Teknologi Informasi di berbagai tingkatan, baik operasional, manajerial maupun strategis. Kurikulum Program Joint Degree ini merupakan paduan antara kurikulum yang dimiliki oleh program MTI-UI dan MIT-UC, yang secara ringkas bisa dilihat pada tabel berikut ini.

Fasilitas

Selama perkuliahan, mahasiswa akan mendapatkan akses internet dan email, akses ke laboratorium komputer, akses perpustakaan dan jurnal online, serta berbagai fasilitas yang diberikan oleh Universitas Indonesia dan University of Canberra.

Pendaftaran

Untuk mendaftar pada program ini, peserta harus mengikuti prosedur penerimaan yang sudah ditetapkan oleh Universitas Indonesia. Silahkan memilih Program Studi Magister Teknologi Informasi melalui situs penerimaan Universitas Indonesia di http://penerimaan.ui.ac.id. Periode pendaftaran online adalah 3 – 24 Juni 2011. Sedangkan ujian saringan dijadwalkan tanggal 3 Juli 2011. Persyaratan berkas dan lokasi pelaksanaan ujian saringan bisa dilihat melalui situs penerimaan online UI tersebut. Materi ujian saringan meliputi Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) serta Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris.

Peserta Program ini berhak untuk memperoleh pendanaan dari Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI), Departemen Pendidikan Nasional baik untuk pembayaran SPP maupun biaya hidup. We are recruiting for a 3-year Postdoctoral position within the National Institute for Medical Research. The position involves the development of theoretical models of protein evolution with applications to fundamental biological topics such as speciation and host-pathogen co-evolution.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in evolutionary biology, molecular biophysics, or related fields.
Applicants should have an interest in evolution. Applicants should have significant experience with scientific computing (in Java, C++, or equivalent). A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of George Sen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, UCSD School of Medicine, San Diego, CA.that control epidermal stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. We have recently shown that both DNA methylation and Histone modifications are extremely critical to stem cell function and differentiation (Nature. 2010, 463: 563-567; Genes Dev. 2008, 22: 1865-1870).

Nature of Job : The projects focus on identifying and characterizing the role of novel epigenetic factors in epidermal stem cell self-renewal, differentiation, and tumorigenesis.

Qualifications: We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with significant experience in cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.Applicants should have a PHD or MD/PHD in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field.

Salary : Salary is commensurate with experience and will follow university guidelines. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
The successful candidate should have a good publication record, and experience in cell and molecular biology. Desired skills include small animal surgery, isolation and culture of epidermal stem cells, bioinformatics, and protein purification.

Scholarship Description: As part of the recently launched Marie Curie Initial Training Network TRANSPOL, a 3-year Early Stage Researcher position is available at the University of Cambridge, UK, in the Department of Physics. The starting date is 01 October 2011. The network includes 7 academic and industrial groups from across the European Union as well as several associate partners from the US and EU. The doctoral programme will provide a range of educational and research opportunities focused on Transport and Signalling mechanism in Polarized Cells, a topic at the interface of Cell/Molecular Biology and Membrane Physics.
This project will explore the impact of lipid composition on membrane mechanics and lateral organisation, and the consequences on membrane shape and trans-membrane trafficking. The effects due to membrane-bound proteins and generally arising in membranes that mimic realistic biological structures will also be investigated, partly in collaboration with other ITN partners.
Candidates with some experience in soft matter physics, optical trapping, instrument automation and/or biological physics are welcome. A basic knowledge of cell biology is also desirable. In addition to proven experimental skills the candidate should have a strong interest in the theoretical background of these experiments. Characterization tools such as image/video analysis will be used and developed. The research training will be towards a PhD and therefore applicants must also gain admission as a graduate student. According to EU regulations, candidates can be of any nationality. They should have less than 4 years of research experience and should not have resided in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months during the past 3-year period.

As part of the newly established NNF Stem Cell Centre, DANSTEM, three postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Professor Bo Porse at the Finsen Laboratory, Rigshospitalet / BRIC, University of Copenhagen.

Postdoctoral areas of research
We are interested in the underlying mechanisms governing the properties of normal and malignant stem cells.

Our main focus is, very broadly, how the control of gene expression contributes to the biology of normal hematopoietic stem cells and how this control is altered in acute myeloid leukemia. Research in the group involves the use of a number of experimental systems including human patient samples as well as genetically modified mouse models.
We have strong expertise in multicolor flow cytometry and use a number of genomic techniques – such as ChIP-seq to assess transcription factor binding and epigenetic configurations as well as microarray and sequencing-based (RNA-seq) gene expression profiling. Importantly, the interpretation of these data is supported by a number of “in-group” bioinformaticians as well as extensive collaborations with the neighboring Bioinformatics Centre.

The Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB) was founded in 2007 as a joint enterprise between the University of Göttingen, three Max Planck Institutes, and the German Primate Center. Project Title: Economic Impacts of EU’s Preferential Trade Agreements on Developing Countries Project Description:
The aim of this PhD project is to analyse economic impacts of preferential trade agreements between the EU and the chosen developing countries. GLOBE computable general equilibrium model and the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) representation of Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) database will be used to simulate various trade liberalisation scenarios, depending on the contents of the preferential trade agreements. The main focus will be on economic effects of such preferential trade agreements on developing economies. Depending on the applicant’s research interests, developing countries chosen can either be i-)Latin American, ii-) African or Asian economies. When deciding about the developing countries, the student needs to make sure that they are in Global Trade Analysis Project’s (GTAP) database, which is the main database that will be used for this project. Applicants will need to justify their choice of developing countries during the application and interview processes. They will produce a research proposal of not more than 2,000 words that outlines and justifies the proposed research question, identifies any additional data requirements and details the proposed work programme.
Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to a high class UK honours degree.

In the framework of the EU Integrated Project “From data sharing and integration via VPH models to personalised medicine” (p-medicine), the research unit on “Systems Biomedicine” at the Department of Experimental Oncology of the European Institute of Oncology, invites applications for a postdoctoral candidate for one year with a strong interest in mathematical and computational modelling of cancer growth and anti-cancer therapies.
The focus of the unit is on the trans-disciplinary use of mathematics and physics to model cancer related biological phenomena, for better understanding of biological experiments and clinical trials.

The successful candidate will have to work on the development, at multiple spatio-temporal scales, of realistic mathematical and computational models for:

The University of Pavia (UNIPV), in order to promote international cooperation with the Developing Countries, offers 51 monthly instalments of 1.000 Euros each as scholarships to study at the University of Pavia or at the Institute for Advanced Study of Pavia (IUSS) during the academic year 2011-2012. Each scholarship will cover also the expenses for the Visa and for the travel to Italy and back (economy class).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The scholarships are designed for students coming from a Developing Country (preferably from Countries classified as Low-income economies and Lower-middle-income economies by the World Bank; see http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-classifications/country-and-lending-groups#Low_income) and for Developing Countries students who received a scholarship financed through the FC&K for the academic year 2010-2011 (in this case, expenses for VISA and for travel will not be covered). Only students born on/after the 1st January 1976 can participate.

At the end of the academic year, the University of Pavia will issue an academic transcript of records certificating the kind and the period of study.

APPLICATION

EVALUATION AND SELECTION

1. Successful candidates will have to confirm their acceptance of the scholarship and of its conditions within the within the time limit set in the letter communicating the awarding of the scholarship. 2. Once received the declaration of acceptance of the scholarship, the University of Pavia will:
• send a prepaid travel ticket to Italy and provide for the travel expenses back to the developing country. Visa requirements will be care of the candidate, and will be reimbursed upon presentation of appropriate receipts;
• provide the candidate with the scholarship according to the final decision of the Commission: monthly instalments of 1.000 Euros each (the number of instalments assigned to each successful candidate will be decided by the Commission);
• arrange an accommodation in one of the University Residences of Pavia (lodging expenses will have to be paid by the candidate; if the candidate does not accept the proposed lodging, s/he will have to find another one by him/herself);
• provide a card for meals at University canteens (the candidate will get the student discount for the meals, which will be at his/her expense);
• guarantee all the facilities required during the period of residence - libraries, computer facilities, etc., including all the services of the Faculty which the student is associated with;
• help the candidate to settle through the services offered for free by the Welcome Point of the University of Pavia, which will provide also the information about applying for a student residence permit.
3. Insurances will be direct care of the selected candidates. In particular, health insurance might be bought by the candidate before leaving the country of origin, being this usually mandatory while
applying for the Visa.

The research training group "Evaluation of Coupled Numerical Partial Models in Structural Engineering" is offering 10 positions for doctoral students for its second project phase. We are looking for inspired and dedicated individuals who are interested in doing research work in the multi-faceted field of structural engineering.

The overall aim of the Research training group is to assess the reliability, safety and robustness of numerical models. This evaluation considers a wide range of aspects and models. This includes, but is not restricted to, models that describe loads or the material and structural behavior of systems in structural engineering. Of particular interest are the interactions of these models in complex systems. Their influence on the quality of models of complex coupled systems is to be determined.

Basis for the research are the results that have been realized during the first project phase. Further research will be carried out in work groups of two to three PhD students under the guidance of two Postdoctoral students. Each doctoral student is supervised by three professors, two of which are professors in Weimar and the third being one of our international partners. Following an intensive training phase the participating doctoral students will develop the subject of their theses in collaboration with their supervisors. The combination of the models and methods of the specific projects then provides the means for handling the complex problems encountered in the working groups.

We expect excellent degrees from the applicants in one or several of the following subjects

To facilitate access to Master's degrees by students with qualifications from foreign universities, the University of Lausanne makes available around ten Master's grants which are awarded on a competitive basis.

Programmes concerned

Candidates must choose a Master's programme from among those offered by the UNIL, except the Master of Medicine. The grant may not be used for any complementary studies required to enroll on the Master's degree and may not be used for EMBAs or Masters of Advanced studies.

Amount and duration of the grant

The amount of the grant is CHF 1,600.- per month from 15 September to 15 July, for a duration not exceeding the regulation minimum period of the programme (according to the programme, one-and-a-half years or two years subject to deduction for paid placements or exempt semesters, if any). Abandonment of the programme results in suspension of the grant.

Required conditions

•The candidate must be the holder of a degree from a foreign university.
•The qualification held by the candidate must be deemed equivalent to the UNIL Bachelor's degree.

Selection procedure

Candidates complete the "UNIL Master's Grant" form and submit their application to the Office for socio-cultural affairs (SASC, Unicentre, University of Lausanne, CH-1015 Lausanne, info.sasc@unil.ch) by 15 December 2011 at the latest. The application is examined by the University Rectorate to determine whether the candidate is admissible. In the event of a positive decision, the application is forwarded by the SASC to the UNIL Faculty responsible for the Master's on which the candidate wishes to be enrolled. The Faculty selects applications and notifies the SASC of its opinion based on the candidate's qualities, motivation and suitability for the Master's programme. The SASC forwards shortlisted applications to the selection committee which will award grants to students meeting all criteria according to the available budget.

Decisions are not open to appeal.

The Georg-Speyer-Haus in Frankfurt (www.georg-speyer-haus.de), is a highly acclaimed international research institute supported by the Federal Ministry of Health for Sciences and Arts of the State of Hesse with a long tradition in state of the art basic and translated research in molecular and cellular therapies of cancer. It combines its own modern and dynamic scientific environment with close ties to the University of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt University Hospital. Frankfurt is emerging to one of the leading centres in leukemia research in Germany.

The Position
The PhD position will be part of Dr. Michael Rieger´s team and is available from June 2011. The project will focus on the interplay of hematopoietic stem cell metabolism and oncogenic signalling at the onset of leukemia. Understanding the mechanism is fundamental for the translation into clinical leukemia treatment, e.g. for the development of novel targeted therapies against leukemia stem cells. With a large spectrum of cellular and molecular biology methods, state-of-the-art cell sorting and novel time-lapse imaging and single cell tacking technologies (Rieger et al., Science 325, 2009) central questions in hematopoiesis will be addressed.

Candidate Requirements
Highly motivated candidates with an outstanding university degree in biology/biochemistry or a related study will gain from a young dynamic environment with scientific excellence. Fascination for modern biomedical research and enjoyment in experimental work are more relevant than previous work experience. However, a strong background in stem cell biology, immunology or cell biology might be of advantage. A research visit abroad is possible due to many international collaborators.

Within the Department of Pathology, the unit Molecular Pathology investigates the molecular changes involved in the development of cervical cancer. Project:

The project aims to produce multivariate statistical models that describe the development of HPV-induced cervical cancer in vitro from a longitudinal experiment in which multiple molecular levels (DNA copy number, methylation, gene expression, and microRNA expression) of consecutive stages of a cell line model have been characterized in high-throughput fashion. The high-dimensionality of the information on and the dependency between the molecular levels make the inference of the molecular mechanisms underlying cervical cancer development a statistical challenge, which is to be tackled within this project.

The project is a collaboration between the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics and the Unit Molecular Pathology, providing an optimal statistical and biological framework.

Requirements:

We are looking for a PhD student with an MSc in Statistics, Bioinformatics or a closely related discipline. Essentials are: good statistical knowledge enabling the development of new models and analysis tools, programming skills, the ability to explain complex ideas to biologists/non-specialists and an affinity with genetics and biology. Previous knowledge of any of the areas involved in the project (such as longitudinal models, multivariate statistics, high-dimensional data analysis) and of R programming are an advantage. The PhD student we are looking for has good communication skills and is flexible to work both with statisticians and biomedical researchers. The PhD student will participate in the PhD program of the VU Institute for Cancer and Immunology (V-ICI).

The formulation team within Aston have a strong background in the reformulation of medicines and technologies such as microarrays to further understand the performance of these medicines in vitro. We are seeking to formalise Pharmaceutical Engineering skills within a team of pharmaceutical scientists to build on our knowledge of Process Analytical Technology. Combining your skills from a background in engineering we will look at mechanical and electronic devices to monitor and control the process of freeze drying. Biopharma Technology Ltd. (BTL) is an independent company based in Winchester, Hampshire, specialising in providing contract R&D in the field of freeze-drying, chiefly to the pharmaceutical, vaccine and diagnostics sectors. In the past 11 years, it has worked on more than 700 different materials for over 300 clients worldwide. BTL has also developed two analytical instruments that provide critical information about a material prior to freeze-drying; this information enables the user to understand whether the material can be processed without further amendment (e.g. reformulation) and what conditions should be employed in order to achieve a stable freeze-dried product. The company is now looking to develop technologies that enable the process to be monitored real-time and in situ, which should ultimately lead to more efficient drying and fewer issues in scaling the process up to the industrial manufacturing level.
The project, due to commence in October 2011, will investigate the application of Process Analytical Technology to monitoring and controlling the freeze drying process. The project will also aim to work towards developing engineering solutions that will enable more successful and efficient processing and better dry state storage stability for a wide variety of biologicals including enzyme and cell systems.
In the 2008 RAE, the Drug Delivery group forming part of the Aston University Allied Healthcare and Professions submission which was ranked 3rd in the UK, based on volume of research given a 3* or 4* rating (internationally excellent and world-leading), out of 61 institutional submissions – underlining our research excellence.

Financial Support
The studentship comprises of a BBSRC maintenance stipend for the student (currently £16,090 per annum tax free) and payment of Home/EU tuition fees.

The Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine offers: PhD position (m/f) (TVL-E13/2) in an interdisciplinary project of Infection Biology.

Helicobacter pylori, the etiological agent of several human gastric diseases, induce the transcription factor NF-kappaB in colonized epithelial cells leading to the release of pro-inflammatory mediators.

The project is based on recent discoveries of novel signaling components of the NF-kappaB signaling pathway in mammalian cells. The successful applicants will define the role of this novel signaling molecules in Helicobacter pylori infection model by integrating molecularbiological, physiological and cell biological analysis.The research program of the institute encompasses scientific projects on the regulation of the NF-kappaB signal transduction in the pathophysiology of inflammation and tumor biology (e.g. differentiation and cell cycle control). Here, the molecular and cell biological mechanisms of the intracellular signal transmission are of special interest. The institute allows an internationally competitive research by providing state of the art technologies in protein analysis, mass spectrometry and microscopy.

The institute coordinates and participates in a variety of coordinated programs funded by the German Research Foundation (GRK1167, SFB854, SFB779, SPP1365 and FOR521), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (SysTec) and the European Union (Marie Curie Research Training Network).

I. JENIS BEASISWA

a. Kursus bahasa jangka pendek (3 bulan):
Kursus ini juga diperuntukkan sebagai tahap persiapan bahasa, bagi mereka yang ingin melanjutkan studi di universitas di Italia.

b. Program Sarjana :
Karena sesuai dengan U.U. 264/99 penerimaan mahasiswa di program sarjana akan melalui proses saringan, disarankan agar pemohon mendaftarkan diri pada program lainnya sebagai pilihan alternatif, agar apabila tidak diterima pada satu program, kesempatan untuk mempertahankan beasiswanya tidak akan hilang.

c. Sekolah Tinggi Seni dan Musik:
Sekolah Tinggi Seni dan Musik (akademi dan konservatori), Sekolah Tinggi Restorasi dan Sekolah Tinggi Sinematografi.

d. Kursus Bahasa dan Kebudayaan Italia untuk Dosen Bahasa Italia (1 atau 3 bulan)
Kursus ini diperuntukkan bagi dosen Indonesia yang mengajar bahasa Italia. Beasiswa untuk kursus mengenai pembelajaran dan pengajaran bahasa Italia dilaksanakan di Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Siena dan Roma Tre atau pada institusi-institusi lain yang berhak mengeluarkan sertifikat pengajaran bahasa Italia sebagai bahasa asing (L2).

e. Pasca Sarjana :
- Program untuk mendapatkan gelar Master tingkat I dan II (dengan jangka waktu minimum satu tahun akademik). Dihimbau kepada para calon mahasiswa untuk mencermati dengan baik biaya perkuliahan program yang akan diambil.
- Para calon penerima beasiswa untuk gelar Master akan diberitahukan mengenai biaya studi dan kemungkinan bahwa program tersebut mengharuskan mahasiswanya untuk mengikuti perkuliahan di institusi akademik yang berada di luar Italia.

f. Program S3:
Kriteria penerimaan pada program tersebut ditentukan oleh masing-masing Universitas. Disarankan menghubungi masing-masing institusi atau mencari informasi pada situs-situs internet terkait.

g. Penelitian:
Harus mendaftarkan diri dan mengikuti program sarjana dan/atau program pasca sarjana.

h. Spesialisasi:
Dalam kategori kursus spesialisasi tidak termasuk jurusan kedokteran (UU 08.08.1991 n.257).

NB.
Calon penerima beasiswa diharuskan untuk memiliki surat penerimaan dari institusi yang dipilih.

Beasiswa untuk seluruh program yang sudah disebutkan di atas (kecuali yang sudah diterangkan) berdurasi 9 bulan. Periode beasiswa dimulai dari Januari 2012 dan hanya untuk tahun ajaran 2011-2012.

II. PERSYARATAN

Syarat-syarat utama bagi calon penerima beasiswa adalah sebagai berikut:

1) Kemampuan berbahasa Italia
Kemampuan berbahasa Italia merupakan syarat utama yang harus dipenuhi oleh para calon melalui wawancara di Institut Kebudayaan Italia atau menunjukkan Sertifikat Bahasa Italia. Syarat tersebut tidak berlaku untuk program kursus bahasa Italia.

2) Ijazah
Calon penerima beasiswa harus memiliki ijazah sesuai dengan yang diminta untuk pendaftaran pada institusi akademik yang dipilih. Beberapa ketentuan mengenai hal tersebut:
- Ijazah harus diterjemahkan ke bahasa Italia dan disahkan oleh perwakilan Pemerintah Italia di negara tempat studi dilakukan.
- Ijazah harus disertai surat pernyataan oleh Kedutaan Besar Italia tentang nilai ijazah di negara tempat studi dilakukan.
- Untuk pendaftaran pada Program Sarjana di Universitas-universitas di Italia, calon penerima beasiswa harus memiliki Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Umum atau setara, yang di negaranya dianggap sah untuk memasuki tingkat Universitas.
- Untuk pendaftaran pada Program Spesialisasi, Pasca Sarjana dan Program Master tingkat I dan II di Universitas Italia dibutuhkan ijazah sarjana yang setara dengan ijazah Italia guna melakukan pendaftaran dan dokumen lainnya yang akan ditetapkan oleh institusi akademik yang dipilih oleh calon penerima beasiswa.
- Untuk menjadi mahasiswa pada Sekolah Tinggi Seni dan Musik dibutuhkan sertifikat/ijazah Sekolah Menengah Umum (SMU) atau setara, untuk dapat diterima pada akademi kesenian atau konservatorium.
- Untuk mengikuti kursus Bahasa dan Kebudayaan Italia dibutuhkan ijazah Sekolah Menengah Umum (SMU).
*Proses penerjemahan dokumen sekolah dilakukan apabila pemohon beasiswa sudah dinyatakan lulus seleksi beasiswa.

3) Batas Usia
Batas usia untuk penerima beasiswa adalah 35 tahun. Batas usia tersebut tidak berlaku untuk dosen bahasa Italia, dengan syarat dosen tersebut melakukan kegiatan mengajar bahasa Italia. Pengecualian untuk Sekolah Tinggi Sinematografi yang menuntut batas usia yang tidak melebihi 27 tahun.
Calon penerima beasiswa minimal harus berumur 18 tahun.

4) Pengajuan permohonan
Aplikasi permohonan beasiswa harus dan hanya dapat dilakukan secara online di :

The Faculty of Science at University of Gothenburg announces a fixed-term employment as:
Postdoctoral Fellow in Theoretical Biology

at the Department of Physics or the Department of Marine Ecology.
Several research groups in Gothenburg address basic evolutionary questions, empirically and mathematically. We have formed a Centre for Theoretical Biology (CTBio) established by the Faculty of Science (University of Gothenburg) in November 2006. The centre brings empirical biologists, mathematicians, and theoretical physicists together. Its goal is to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific quality in theoretical biology.

ResponsibilitiesThe appointee is supposed to conduct research independently, and to actively participate in ongoing projects developing coalescent models for meta-populations of a marine invertebrate species, Littorina saxatilis. This species is a widely used model for evolutionary studies and comprehensive background data is available (evolutionary ecology, behavior, population genetics and intraspecific phylogeny). The project involves intense collaborations, not only with theoreticians, but also with evolutionary biologists.

Qualification requirementsTo qualify as a postdoctoral fellow you must have completed a PhD in a relevant subject area or you must have a foreign degree corresponding to a PhD in a relevant subject area. Preference will be given to candidates who have been awarded the degree no more than three years before the final date of application. Candidates being awarded their degree earlier than this can also be preferred if specific reasons exist. Such specific reasons may be a leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

AssessmentThe applicant should have documented familiarity with stochastic models (such as for example branching or coalescent processes) and their computer simulation. A fundamental interest in biological questions is meriting.

Wageningen International) offers a 2-weeks short course focusing on conflict
management entitled: "Competing claims on natural resources". In the underlying
philosophy of the course natural resource management equates natural resource
conflict management and I think that most of you are professionally so much
engaged in managing conflict that you may agree with this philosophy. If that is

School of International Health, The University of Tokyo offers advanced study and research opportunities under the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) for oversea students from ADB member countries. Applicants for this program must have a citizenship or nationality of a developing country among the ADB member countries. The ADB-JSP at our school is designated for the Masters and Doctors Program that usually lasts for two years (for Mastes) and three years (for Doctors) and commences on 1st April every year. Language used in the program is English.

Overview

ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAM
The applicants are evaluated by the School Committee and distinguished applicants are nominated as candidates for the program and subsequently recommended to the Asian Development Bank. Admission to the ADB-JSP is finally granted for about five applicants by the Graduate Council of the University of Tokyo based on the recommendation of School of International Health and approval of ADB.

The University of Tokyo maintains an extremely high academic standard with a limited number of students. Admission to the program is very competitive, thus outstanding applicants are expected to apply.

To be eligible for admission to this program, applicants:
1. must be a citizen or national of an ADB member country listed above;
2. must have finished at least 18 years of school education (except language education);
3. must hold a degree from an accredited institution that is comparable to the Master Degree awarded by the University of Tokyo;
4. must have working experience for at least two years in the field of health/medical science;
5. must be aged below 35 years;
6. must not be military personnel;
7. must be able to arrive in Japan between 1st and 10th of April, 2010
8. must agree to return to his/her home country after completion of studies under the Program;
9. must not be living or working in a country other than his/her home country;

* *IMPORTANT: The duration of scholarship is only TWO years although Doctors program lasts for three years.

There is no guarantee that you can take another scholarship for the third year.

Scholarships for all International Students
The Adelaide Outstanding Achiever Scholarships International (AOASI)

Up to nine Adelaide Outstanding Achiever Scholarships International (AOASI) are available to international students from any country undertaking study in any academic discipline except Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).
Benefits are the waiver of full tuition fees for the normal duration of the program, subject to satisfactory performance.
A scholarship recipient completing a three year degree program who is offered a further year in the Honours Program may apply for an extension of the scholarship to cover that year.
Scholarships are available only for the first four years of a double degree.

Applications
For students seeking scholarships for study commencing in 2010, a separate application process for scholarships will be required. This includes for applications submitted through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

The process will require completion of a web-based form that will be available on this website by mid-September 2009. Applicants will be required to have already received a current offer of admission to the University of Adelaide to be considered for a scholarship.

Application Deadlines
The deadline for the 2010 round of undergraduate scholarships has yet to be fixed. It is therefore recommended that you apply to study at the University some time before the estimated mid-September opening of the scholarship round.

AOASI Scholarship Conditions

Eligibility conditions

Scholarships will be awarded strictly on academic merit and only actual results can be used. Forecast results are not accepted for scholarship selection. Only complete applications will be considered, and only applicants who have met the University’s minimum English language requirement for direct entry to their intended program of study at the scholarship application deadline will be eligible for consideration. For Australian Year 12 students the basic TER will be used. Bonus points will not be counted.
The University reserves the right to vary the awards, or not to offer scholarships if the candidates have not achieved the level of academic achievement to merit the awards.
Applicants from education systems accepted by the University of Adelaide for direct entry to the first year of degree studies must apply before commencement of University studies whether in their home country or Australia. Those who have commenced tertiary studies at the time of application will not be eligible.
Applicants from education systems where one year of degree studies in their home countries is required for admission to the University of Adelaide first year degree studies must apply before commencement of their second year of studies. Those who have commenced second year studies at the time of application will not be eligible.
A scholarship may not be awarded to anyone already holding another scholarship funded by the University of Adelaide.
Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, and citizens of New Zealand are ineligible for any of the above scholarships.
Candidates who have applied for Australian permanent resident status are ineligible to apply.

Enrolment Conditions

Scholarship holders must commence study at The University of Adelaide in 2010. By negotiation, an applicant offered a scholarship scheduled to commence in Semester I, 2010 may defer until Semester II, 2010 if there is a Semester II commencement of their chosen program of study. If the applicant is not able to commence in Semester II the scholarship offer will lapse and will not be available to the applicant in 2011.
Candidates are required to enrol in The University of Adelaide as ‘international students’ and must maintain ‘international student’ status for the duration of their enrolment in the University. The scholarship will be terminated if a student changes their residency status.
Scholarship holders are expected to enrol in a full time load. A scholarship holder who is considering reducing his/her enrolment load must first consult with staff in the International Student Centre. International students are expected to complete their programs within the duration specified on their visa. The University may only extend the duration of study under compassionate or compelling circumstances.
Undergraduate scholarships are available for up to four years, subject to satisfactory progress. The University reserves the right to terminate scholarships of students who do not maintain satisfactory progress. Satisfactory progress is defined as the achievement of a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 5 (out of 7).
Where a student fails, or withdraws from courses in a given semester (or equivalent teaching period) such that the semester GPA (Grade Point Average) is less than 5.0 in two consecutive semesters, the student will be deemed to have failed to maintain satisfactory academic progress and the scholarship will be terminated unless the University is satisfied that exceptional circumstances exist.
If a student faces exceptional circumstances requiring him or her to return home, he/she may apply for a one year deferment of enrolment without loss of scholarship, provided this is approved under the student visa requirements.
In order to make a case for exceptional circumstances, a student will need to provide a detailed statement and independent supporting documentation e.g. a doctor’s certificate etc.
If a scholarship holder enrols in more than the standard load of 24 units per year, or in courses which increase the tuition fee beyond what is indicated in the scholarship offer letter, or enrols in courses at another institution, he or she shall be responsible for the payment of the additional tuition fees.
Students who complete a three-year degree may apply for an additional year, in an Honours program, but extension of the scholarship for the fourth year is subject to the decision of the relevant faculty.
The scholarships cover the amount of tuition fee indicated in the scholarship award letter for up to four years of study at the University of Adelaide. The scholarships do not cover the costs of visas, Overseas Student Health Cover, travel, accommodation, living expenses, books and study materials or any other expenses associated with living in Adelaide or study at the University of Adelaide.

About the Programme
Establishment of the National Scholarship Programme for the Support of Mobility of Students, PhD students, University Teachers and Researchers was approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in 2005. The National scholarship programme of the Slovak Republic is funded by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS, PhD STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS

The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is intended to support mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers and researchers to stay at Slovak universities and research institutions.

Types of scholarships
a) Scholarships for foreign university students (enrolled at least in the 6th semester) to take part in Master study over a period of 1 to 2 semesters (from 5 to 10 months) at Slovak universities.
b) Scholarships for foreign PhD students to take a part of PhD study over a period of 1 to 12 months at Slovak universities or research institutes.
c) Scholarships for foreign university teachers and researchers over a period of 1 to 12 months to carry out teaching or research at Slovak universities, research institutes or nongovernmental organisations on the basis of an invitation.

Due to the mobility nature of the programme applicants cannot be considered if they have been studying, teaching or researching in Slovakia at the time of submitting their application.

The Scholarship Programme does not support:
a) foreign students and PhD students accepted for entire Master or PhD studies in Slovakia, specifically those who are already studying in Slovakia and would like to cover part of their costs from the National Scholarship Programme;
b) foreign university teachers and researches who are already teaching or researching at Slovak universities and research institutes;
c) citizens of the Slovak Republic studying, teaching or researching at foreign universities or research institutes;
d) foreign applicants accepted for other scholarship programmes in Slovakia (for example Visegrad Fund, Erasmus, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.).

Scholarship designation
The scholarship is designated to cover living costs (accommodation, boarding, etc.) of a study, research and teaching stay of foreign applicants at Slovak universities and research institutions. The applicants can ask their host institution to assist them to arrange their accommodation and necessary documents regarding the stay in Slovakia, or they have to arrange it by themselves. The Scholarship Programme does not cover the travel costs to and from Slovakia.

In order to submit the on-line application, it is necessary to fill in the on-line application form (in Slovak, English, French, Spanish or Russian version), attach all required documents (in .doc or .pdf format) and press the "submit" button.

Applications must be submitted on-line at www.scholarships.sk and documents marked with asterisk (*) (see the List of required documents that must be attached to the on-line application form) must be sent by post and received by the deadline at SAIA, n. o. Belgium Scholarship Various Programs

Every year, with the support of the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGDC), VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from developing countries to study one of the 15 International Course Programmes (ICPs) or one of the 6 International Training Programmes (ITPs). The ICPs and ITPs target people from the South with a responsible position in civil society (at a university, school, NGO, ministry, etc).

Each year there are a maximum of 180 scholarships available for first-year ICP students and a maximum of 70 scholarships for ITP participants.

Training Programmes (ITP)
ITPs are short-term training programmes whose main focus is transferring skills rather than knowledge. The International Training Programmes are designed for people from developing countries with a certain degree of professional experience.

The ITPs aim at transferring knowledge and skills, and create the possibility for cooperation and networking.

Master Programmes (ICP)
ICPs are master programmes, lasting one or two academic years, all of which lead to a masterâ€™s degree. They focus on specific problems of developing countries. The main target group for the courses are students from developing countries, although the courses can also be attended by Belgian students or students from other countries.

The ICPs aim to provide a training in such a way that the knowledge that the students acquire is disseminated and applied in the home institution and country of origin.

ICP-Ph.D. programme
Definition
To enable promising graduates of the International Courses (ICPs ICPs are Master programmes that receive institutional support from VLIR-UOS, see list of Master programmes) to make a Ph.D. at a Flemish university, VLIR-UOS launched its ICP Ph.D. programme in 2003.

Starting from the academic year 2002-2003, a maximum of ten Ph.D. scholarships can be granted every academic year to excellent ICP graduates from a developing country.

The ICP Ph.D. programme aims to institutionally strengthen universities or research institutions in the South through capacity building, by upgrading local academic personnel by offering Ph.D. scholarships. Only ICP graduates that are nationals from a developing country are eligible for an ICP Ph.D. scholarship. See the call for all criteria.

Practical
An ICP Ph.D. scholarship consists of two two-year terms, and cannot be extended.

It is a ’sandwich’ scholarship, which means that in principle two-thirds of the research is conducted at the local institution and one-third at the Flemish university.

The scholar is free to choose the periods of his/her stays in Belgium and his/her home country, albeit in agreement with both supervisors. However, for practical reasons, the scholar is obliged to come to Belgium at the start of the scholarship, i.e. on 1 October of the reference year.

Funding is provided both on the level of the scholar as well as on the level of the local resp. the Flemish supervisors unit. See the call for more details.

A call is launched in November. Deadline for applications is February (varies per Flemish university see the call). Selection takes place in May. Selected Ph.D. researchers start in October of that year.

The University of Siena invites applications for the Graduate Program in Economics. The University and the city offer a unique environment for study and research in Europe.

Scholarship
A maximum of 16 students will be admitted. The 8 most qualified candidates will be awarded a four-year scholarship of about €10,500 ($16,500) per year, after tax, for a total of about $42,000 ($67,000), plus tuition remission. The Graduate Program
The goal of the program is to train professional economists. Former students hold positions as economists in the academia, in consulting businesses, and in national and internationals economic institutions, such as central banks and regulators.

The first two years of the Program are devoted to full-time courses. All of these are taught in English, the official language of the Program. After fundamental training in Mathematics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics, a full menu of specialized courses is offered. Students are exposed to different theoretical and methodological points of view, in order to be able to explore the frontier of economics in an original way. Students are also required to participate in research activities, such as economics seminars and workshops. Admission to the second year is conditioned on the results of all first year final exams. Starting from the second year, students will develop their own research, under the supervision of a faculty member. While working at their dissertation, students are encouraged to undertake periods of research in foreign academic institutions. In this case the scholarship is increased by 50%. The Republic of Cyprus is offering five (5) full scholarships of 12-months duration to study for the attainment of the University of Nicosia Master in Business Administration Programme for the academic year 2009-2010. Position 1
The research will be focused on designing small soft robots capable of locomotion and internal deformation, in order to squeeze through holes narrower than the robot body. The research will investigate the role of new materials and non- traditional actuation in designing and controlling such machines. The research will also investigate control and planning algorithms for this type of system. This project is a collaboration between MIT, Harvard, and iRobot. For this position we are looking for applicants with robotics background. Applicants with chemical engineering background can also be a good fit. We are looking for candidates with knowledge of mechanism design and control, demonstrated creativity, and experience with building robots.

Position 2
The research will be focused on decentralized control of multi-robot systems. We are looking for creative candidates with strong background in control theory, estimation theory, and experience with implementing algorithms on hardware platforms. Some knowledge of computer networking is also desirable.

The CMCRC provides an exciting, high calibre, and well resourced research environment for work in capital markets. The research objective is to create better capital markets locally, regionally, and globally. CMCRC research is about providing a better understanding of financial markets (their operation and their price behaviour) and research which facilitates the provision of advances in technology to capital markets. In the CMCRC there is a particular focus on the enhancement of market integrity and security. CMCRC research is also about realising commercial benefits from innovation, and the CMCRC provides direct participation in commercial results for PhD Students.

Programmes currently operate under the following research themes:
1. market design and market behaviour
2. surveillance and compliance
3. data mining
4. language technology
5. the analysis of accounting and audit data relevant to security markets.

Interdisciplinary research is encouraged. Applications are invited for full-time scholarships to support PhD studies. We seek highly motivated and enthusiastic scholars from the disciplines above, who wish to work in the area of financial markets.
Eligibility
Successful candidates will have a 1st class honours degree in one of the disciplines above, or a Masters degree with a major research component, an exceptional academic record, strong written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to work in a team environment. The successful applicants will work closely with one or more industry partners, and consequently will need to be flexible with regard to their research topic. Students will be enrolled at The University of New South Wales, The University of Technology Sydney, The University of Wollongong, The University of Sydney, Macquarie University, or an overseas university associated with the CMCRC, such as the University of Reading. Students generally apply to the CMCRC before they apply to the university, but applications may proceed simultaneously. We encouage applicants to establish contact with potential supervisors at our partner universities in conjunction with their application.

Award Tenure
Subject to satisfactory performance, scholarships are tenable for up to three years commencing in 2009 and 2010. Scholarships of up to $50,000 pa will be offered. The scholarship is tax free. Australian residents in our program obtain RTS places, which means that they do not pay tuition fees or HECS..

PhD Studentship-Tribology of Fiber Reinforced Elastomers and Thermoplastics at University of Twente

Sustainable Elastomers & Thermoplastics by Short-Cut Fiber Reinforcement

The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial research university. It was founded in 1961 and offers education and research in areas ranging from public policy studies and applied physics to biomedical technology. The University has approximately 2700 employees and 8000 MSc and BSc students and is the Netherlands` only campus university.

The chair of Surface Technology and Tribology within the department of Engineering Technology has a job opening for a PhD-student on the project "Sustainable Elastomers and Thermoplastics by Short-Cut Fiber Reinforcement".
Relatively new short-cut aramid-fiber/elastomer composites show considerably improved tribological properties, in particular cut, ship and chunk resistance in truck tire treads. In addition, the hysteretic properties of aramid-fiber reinforced rubber are greatly reduced, which can immediately be translated in lower rolling resistance of tires and energy or fuel savings of cars equipped with short-cut fiber reinforced tires. Short-cut fiber reinforced tires are therefore very interesting as valuable contributions to a sustainable world.

Important prerequisites for the improvement in properties of the polymers with the aramid fibers are a strong adhesion between fiber and polymeric substrate, respectively a favorable fiber orientation must be established during processing, in order to prevent anisotropy in friction and wear properties. Unfortunately, there are no general controls and experiences available how short-cut fiber reinforced polymers of all sorts need to be designed with respect to their tribological properties for specific applications.

Aim of the project is to develop scientific understanding and generic models for further development of improved short-cut fiber reinforced polymers, thermoplastic and elastomeric. Reliable tribology test methods, against different materials (e.g. metals and asphalt) will be used in combination with state-of-the- art analytical characterization techniques like SEM, TEM and surface analysis. Experimental investigations will be carried out in parallel with the development of models to describe tribological properties, such as friction and wear, on a micro scale, again in relation to the fiber-matrix adhesion and mean fiber orientation.

This PhD opportunity will suit a person with a degree in physical sciences (physics, engineering, materials science, etc.).

You will be based at the Laboratory for Surface Technology and Tribology of the University of Twente and be joining an innovative and diverse group working on Tribology, Surface Technology and Materials.

Scholarships for Indonesian Citizens from The Goverment of Italy

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INDONESIAN CITIZENS

The Government of Italy offers scholarships to Indonesian citizens wishing to pursue their studies in Italy. The selection is held annually by a Selection Committee consisting of competent authorities and expert representing both Italy and Indonesia. This Scholarship grants are distributed for students, professionals, teachers, and artists who meet the necessary requirements for enrollment in any Italian post-secondary institutions (universities, academies, conservatories, art restoration institutes, National School of Cinematography, research centers or laboratories, libraries, archives, museums and other national or nationally-recognized institutions), and who would like to attend specialization courses or to conduct research in specific fields. For Italian language study, the scholarships are awarded for specific programs which are held at the Universities for Foreigners in Perugia, Siena and Roma Tre or at the other recognized institutions (which are authorized to issue certification of Italian as a second language).

The short-term scholarships are distributed in the range period between one to nine months and are reserved primarily for courses in Italian language and culture. Applicants must possess a high school diploma at the time they apply and must be 35 years of age or younger (minimum maturity age is 18 years old for Indonesian citizen).

Italian language and culture courses of a one-month period are reserved for Italian language teachers to whom no age limit applies, and for 3rd year University students in the Italian Studies Department.

The long-term scholarships consist of a nine – to twelve-month period, (depending on the length of the course) beginning in autumn. They are awarded for specific research or specialized courses at public post-secondary institutions in any area of study, except for medical studies. All courses of study must be undertaken at the Government approved educational institutions. Applicants for the long-term scholarships interested in undergraduate research or study must possess a high school diploma entitling the applicant to enroll in university; for those wishing to study or conduct research at the post-graduate level, the minimum requirement is a Master`s degree. Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger (minimum maturity age in Indonesia is 18 years old).

GENERAL INFORMATION
Elements taken into consideration by the Selection Committee are:

- The applicant`s curriculum studiorum and vitae.
- The applicant`s proposed program of study (for post-graduate, master courses and doctorate studies).
- The Reference letters from Indonesian or Italian academics (for post-graduate, master courses and doctorate studies).
- The existence of direct contacts between the candidate and Italian academics and/or institutes of higher learning in the candidate`s field of study (applies particularly to applicants for long-term scholarships).
- Knowledge of Italian is mandatory; unless the applicant is applying for Italian language courses or applying for an independent study (in this case the candidate must have a letter from a professor declaring willing to follow the student in another language).

Scholarships offered by the Italian Government cover standard living expenses such as boards and lodging expenses, Insurance (valid only in Italian Territory) , and do not include air fares (return) Please note that scholarship recipients must make their own travel and lodging arrangements. Any partial or total exemption from university fees for scholarship recipients is the decision of the individual university/ institution; no exemptions are granted by private institutions.

Changes in the place of study or the starting date will not be permitted once the scholarship has been awarded. Applicants must therefore indicate the name of their chosen institution and the dates of the chosen existing course/s clearly and exactly on their application forms.

NeTS is looking for students coming from renowned universities from around the world, with a very good grade record, who have a very high interest in wireless communications, specially those based on the IEEE 802.11 principles, including sensor, adhoc, infrastructure WLANs and mesh networks.

We are also looking for students passionate about multimedia communications in the Internet, and the protocols associated to it. We seek students with a strong background on communications networks, coming from electrical engineering, computer science or related fields. Paramount is a desire to learn and push the limits of current technology, as well as providing new insight into today`s and tomorrow`s networks and services.
The accepted candidates will participate in several projects in tight cooperation with other researchers from our group.

Positions available are:

1 PhD / MSc position in `Reconfigurable, adaptive and selforganized sensor networks`. Sensor networks are formed by small, inexpensive and resource limited devices that can interact with the environment (sensing or actuating) and communicate wirelessly with other devices. The work will consist in the design and implementation of a complete new protocol stack based on collaborative and crosslayer techniques, including power control routing algorithms, reconfigurable PHY/MAC protocols and adaptive self organized multihop clustering algorithms.

1 PhD / MSc position in `Modeling adaptive traffic flows over capacity varying wireless mesh networks`. Current WLANs suffer from various impairments which reduce their ability to carry multimedia flows satisfactorily. One of them is the intrinsic variable capacity due to the multiple transmission rates used and caused by the distributed random access to the channel. The proposed thesis will consider the definition of a mathematical framework to analyze multichannel wireless mesh networks, based on the IEEE 802.11s/n prestandard, in order to optimize the QoS and signalling mechanisms (e.g. based on P2P paradigms) to adapt properly the multimedia traffic sources (such as VoIP, video streaming).

1 PhD / MSc position in `Next Generation Multimedia Signalling for the multitechnology, multiservice Internet`. The Internet is undergoing a dramatic evolution through new architectural paradigms, like the NGNs, P2Pbased signalling and applications, mobile and wireless access networks and the like. There is a necessity to design a new set of integrated signalling protocols, which permit to control the transmission of multimedia traffic over such heterogeneous networks. IMS is the current best practice in that area, but its many shortcomings and high complexity suggest to explore new approaches that go beyond IMS, like P2PSIP based systems. The goal of this PhD, thus, is to design, evaluate and standardize new signalling protocols for the Internet of the future.

We offer a three year grant to PhD students with a MSc already finished. Moreover, for students without a MsC a four year grant is also possible with the requirement to follow our master program during the first year.

PhD Position at The Department of Information Technology Uppsala University of Sweden

Design tools for multiprocessor embedded systems. Topics include memory-usage estimation and timing analysis of multi-threaded embedded software on multi-core processors. Future generations of embedded systems will run multi- tasking software on multi-processor platforms for low energy-consumption and high performance.

In such systems, software tasks may share not only processor cores but also caches and memory blocks, and the bandwidth for access to the memory hiearchies. This project is to study the complex interplay between multi-threaded software and multi- processing units in hardware. One of the goals is to develop abstract models to faithfully capture the behaviours of hardware resources, multi-thread tasks, mechanisms for resource management and their interactions.

Such models will be used to estimate memory-usage and worst-case response times of individual tasks. The starting points of the project will be UPPAAL and TIMES developed at our department for timing analysis based on model-checking, and classic analytic techniques such as RMA for schedulability analysis based on worst-case scenarios. One possible outcome is to combine these techniques with model checking to achieve more precise and scalable analysis.

Project description.
The project is concerned withthe construction of programs of experiments in marketing and industry. Theseare used to study the impact of various factors on a response variable. Thesettings of the factors are often chosen according to a so-called orthogonalarray. In this project, several methods will be explored to find arrays forlarge numbers of factors with various numbers of settings.

Also, methods forarranging these arrays in subsets will be sought. This is because, in marketingexperiment s, each respondent has to evaluate a separate subset. In industrialexperimen ts, subsets are important too, because it is usually only possible tomake small numbers of observations under homogeneous conditions.

Profile and requirements.
You have a Mastersdegree or equivalent in commercial engineering or a field related toMathematics or Statistics. Masters Studentships History of Medicine School of Historical Studies The School of Historical Studies at Newcastle University is pleased to advertise between 2 and 4 Masters Studentship Awards for postgraduate study in Newcastle`s Wellcome Trust recognised MA programme in the History of Medicine during the academic year 2008-9.

The closing date for applications is 14 April 2008.
The stipends for these awards will be set as follows: EITHER c. £5,000 (including home/EU-fees) for full-time home/EU students; OR £10,000 (including international fees) for non-EU students of outstanding merit. Part time studentships will be awarded to meritorious applicants at c. half the above rate per annum. The studentships are funded by the Northern Centre for the History of Medicine and will be available as of September 2008. The Centre is a partnership between the Universities of Newcastle and Durham, and is supported by the Wellcome Trust.

Successful applicants would join the postgraduate community based at the School of Historical Studies at Newcastle University. Postgraduate teaching and research supervision in the History of Medicine at Newcastle is delivered by scholars with established international reputations in the field.

The MA in the History of Medicine incorporates 3 compulsory formal research training components (30 credits), during which students develop research skills and methodologies; a compulsory core module `Introduction to the History of Medicine` (30 credits), and 2 special study options (60 credits); and culminates in the completion of an intensively researched 14,000 word dissertation (60 credits).

Study consists mainly of seminars, tutorials and independent learning. The programme provides the necessary research training that will either link into further PhD and postgraduate academic study, or act as a stand alone MA. Candidates who have successfully completed the programme will be eligible to take part in the annual Wellcome Trust PhD studentship competition. The MA also provides the key skills and training for a wide range of careers both within and outside of Higher Education.

Eligibility:
Applications for the studentship are invited from highly motivated graduates from various backgrounds including the Humanities and Social Sciences (e.g. History, Classics, Philosophy, Literature, Religious Studies, Archaeology, Psychology, Sciences, Sociology etc.). Applicants require a good (or predicted) undergraduate degree result (1st or high 2:1) in such a subject. Candidates with a medical background are also encouraged to apply, and the studentship is open to current stage 4 Newcastle medical students who have opted to take the MA in the History of Medicine as an intercalated degree after stage 4 MBBS.

The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh announces the 2008-2009 Study-in-China Scholarship for Chinese language study in an approved program abroad. Pitt undergraduate students, and undergraduate PCHE students enrolled in University of Pittsburgh Chinese language classes, are eligible for these awards. Award amounts will be based on the cost of the language program elected by the student, the contribution the student is able to make to the cost, and the total budget of the scholarship program.

Terms and Conditions for 2008-2009

* Applicants must have completed at least two years of Chinese (speaking and reading) by the inception of the award.
* These scholarships are exclusively for Chinese language study abroad.
* Funding may be used for Summer 2008, and academic year study (one or two nsemesters) in 2008-2009.
* Students must enroll in a Chinese-language program approved by the Awards
Committee.
* Academic-year awardees must be enrolled in full-time language study, defined as a minimum of 20 hours per week.
* Summer study awardees must enroll in a program of at least 6 weeks duration, with a total of 120-140 contact hours (depending on student’s level).

Background
Higher Education plays an important role for the economic development in every country, which is one of the core work in the TaiwanICDF. 3 undergradute, 15 graduate and 3 Ph.D. graduate programs have been developed in the below field with 13 renowned local university.

Scholarship scope

(Maximum4-year for Undergraduate, 2-year for Graduate and 3-year for Post-Graduate)

The scholarship is itemized as follows:
1. Airfare: The TaiwanICDF shall provide economy class tickets for the most-direct flights to and from Taiwan.
2. Housing: All students must reside in the graduate student dormitories.
3. Tuition fee: The TaiwanICDF will cover the tuition fee as required by the student’s university.
4. Credit fees: Credit fees vary with the number of credits registered. Credit fees will also be covered as required by the student’s university.
5. Insurance: While in Taiwan, in addition to the mandatory student safety insurance set by the Ministry of Education, each student must be insured for accidental and medical coverage. Insurance fees will be covered for the entire duration of the program.

a. Undergraduate’s Program: Each student shall receive NT$12,000 per month (NT$144,000 per year) as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. **TaiwanICDF Scholarship Conditions

Scholarhsip holders must：
1. Comply with the Recruitment Procedures and devote full time to the program.
2. Not seek employment or engage in political activities.
3. Be responsible for any expense and arrangement to have families/friends coming to Taiwan.
4. Return to their home countries soon after completion of the program.
5. Bear any expenses or risks incurred as a result of any change initiated by them, in the travel schedule arranged by the TaiwanICDF.

6. Fully agree that the TaiwanICDF has the right to terminate the scholarship if their student status is rescinded by host institutes due to their responsibilities that they are (1) found guilty of serious misconduct in Taiwan; (2) found to engage in political activities or any form of employment for profit or gain; (3) found to have unsatisfactory performance or language deficiency during the Program ;

7. Know their accommodation will be arranged and designated by host institutes.
8. Certify the information contained in physical examination form is genuine and will not request the reimbursement for hospitalization in cases of chronic illness in Taiwan. And agree that the TaiwanICDF has the right to send them back to home country should any chronic illness begin to deteriorate.

9.Agree that during their study at host institute, all matters related to the program will be settled in accordance with the school rules and regulations, and that host institute’s decision will be final and will be implemented accordingly.

10. Agree to grant the Journal of SCI, EI, A&HCI, SSCI, TSSCI or Journal of International Cooperation(JIC) permission to publish their abridged versions of theses within twenty pages.
11. Agree to embrace Taiwanese culture and learn basic Mandarin during their stay in Taiwan.
12. Agree not to hold Taiwan Scholarship at the same time.

13. Agree to repay airfare, and living allowances should they decide to drop out from the scholarship without the prior consent of the TaiwanICDF and providing proof of exceptional circumstances, and accept the TaiwanICDF’s decision in this matter will be final.

The application has to pass through Taiwan Embassies in allied countries. Taiwan Embassies screen qualification of applicants first, and send qualified applicants to below universities participating inTaiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA), in consultation with TaiwanICDF.

Basis of Award

* Criteria based on Year 12 Overall Position, or international equivalent. Interviews may be required;
* Personal statement regarding high school involvement and community involvement;
* Personal reference from Principal, Head of Year, or other teacher; and
* Previous study of business, business communication, commerce or computing, hospitality, sport, travel, tourism at school or college is not a requirement for enrolment in the Bachelor of Business, nor for application for the scholarships.

ITS Buka Kuliah Gratis Untuk PNS

nstitut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya kembali membuka program kuliah gratis untuk kalangan Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS), setelah kesempatan serupa diberikan kepada warga Sukolilo. “Program beasiswa Pendidikan Profesional itu dibuka untuk program diploma III (D-3) dan diploma IV (D-4) Teknik Sipil FTSP-ITS,” kata koordinator Bidang II Program Diploma Teknik Sipil FTSP ITS Machsus ST.MT K di Surabaya, Kamis.

Program itu, katanya, bertujuan membantu kekurangan tenaga di bidang konstruksi di kabupaten/kota di Indonesia, karena itu program tahunan itu bekerjasama dengan Pusat Pembinaan Teknologi Konstruksi (Pusbiktek) Departemen Pekerjaan Umum (PU). “Sasaran program adalah PNS di lingkungan kabupaten/kota di Indonesia, tapi pengalaman menunjukkan peserta program didominasi wakil dari kabupaten/kota di Jawa Timur, meski tidak dibatasi hanya untuk Jatim,” katanya.

Persyaratannya pun relatif mudah, katanya, peserta program D-3 ditujukan bagi PNS yang telah mengantongi ijazah SMU/SMK, sedangkan peserta program D-4 ditujukan untuk PNS yang berijazah Sarjana Muda/D-3.

“Hanya saja, program kuliah gratis tahun anggaran 2008 itu dibatasi untuk 20 orang PNS pada masing-masing jenjang pendidikan dengan proses pendaftaran sudah dimulai di kampus ITS Manyar dan seleksinya pada 15-16 April 2008,” katanya.

International Scholarship Programme Aga Khan Foundation, India

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July. The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master's level courses but is also willing to consider applications for PhD programmes, when doctoral degrees are necessary for the career objectives of the student. Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students doing their research in Third World countries on topics judged to be of interest to the Aga Khan Development Network. Applications for short-term courses are not considered; neither are applications from students who have already started their course of study.

Geographic Scope. The Foundation accepts applications from countries where it has branches, affiliates or other AKDN agencies which can help with processing applications and interviewing applicants.
At present, these are Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Madagascar, France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada.

Selection Criteria. The main criteria for selecting award winners are: l) excellent academic records, 2) genuine financial need, 3) admission to a reputable institution of higher learning and 4) thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans. Candidates are also evaluated on their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.

Age Limit. Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.

Financial Assistance. The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only. The cost of travel is not included in AKF scholarships. Applicants are requested to make every effort to obtain funding from other sources as well, so that the amount requested from the Foundation can be reduced to a minimum. Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.

Loan Conditions. Half of the scholarship amount is considered as a loan, which must be reimbursed with an annual service charge of 5%. A guarantor is required to co-sign the loan agreement. The payback period is five years, starting six months after the study period funded by the Aga Khan Foundation.

Application Procedures. The application procedures of AKF's International Scholarship Programme are decentralised. Students may obtain application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards in their countries of current residence. Completed applications should be returned to the agency from which the form was obtained, or to the address indicated on the front of the form. They should not be sent to Geneva. The deadline for submission of applications is March 31, although in certain countries internal deadlines may be earlier.

Applicants should be prepared to be interviewed by local Scholarship Committees about their financial situation, their academic performance, extra-curricular achievements and career plans. Interview reports are sent with the applications to Geneva for the final selection.

The annual Scholarship Selection Meeting takes place in late June or early July and the Aga Khan Foundation notifies all students of the outcome of their application shortly thereafter.
